Projects I have been Working On, part 1:
LED Grow Light
So I was reading about space buckets, where people grow weed (and other stuff) indoors in... buckets. And I wanted to make a grow light, just to make something and also to be able to have a living thing in my... place.
SO I took all my 5mm LEDs and made a light. I did some research and found out that plants need more than just red and blue light, some amber and green is necessary, too. So I used 8 red LEDs, 2 amber, 2 green and 3 blue in series, paralleled in 10 rows, which fit perfectly on these cheapo PCB veroboards.
The problem was getting the pattern of the LEDs right so that they were roughly evenly distributed. Me and NB lesbian spent a long time with a whiteboard drawing patterns, and eventually I wrote a javascript thing to automate repeating and offsetting the pattern. I taught NBL about the modulo/remainder operator :)
My problem now is that I reaallly want to connect to the 12v line of the power supply of my Minecraft server that is hanging on the wall, behind the alien BUT I don't have male "Molex" connectors, which is not what they are actually called, so I'm a little stuck.
Also I glued the boost converter onto the side of the LED board and it fell off :(
sexiness continued in part 2 :P
