I found a letter to an old boyfriend thanking him for helping me at a time when I had an eye test. It wasn’t a normal eye test, it was a special one at the hospital that left me rather blind for a short while after. I thanked him for being strong and patient and told him how safe I felt in his arms as he walked me out of the hospital. This was the first test that I had for MS. It was an optician who told me I had MS and sent me to my doctor. My doctor sent me to the hospital for this test but it came back negative. My eye stopped being weird and I forgot about it until several years later when my walking started to deteriorate and then I was formally diagnosed with MS. It is weird to think about how life would have played out if I had been correctly diagnosed with MS 10 years ago.
