However, this reminded me of a funny story so I have decided to share. As many of you know I am British but I grew up entirely in Germany. So I have very little knowledge of the British love that is cricket or the American love that is baseball. When I was 14 my boyfriend took me to Disneyland in Paris. Not my current boyfriend because that would’ve made him in his mid 20s and therefore, subsequently, in a prison cell. My then boyfriend was still too old for me, but he was, just about, still a teenager. Anyway, I was in Disneyland and I decided I wanted to do something American so I went to a little shop and I bought a Mickey Mouse themed baseball bat and a ball. Outside, in this coach pick up area that was mostly deserted, my boyfriend grabbed the bat and announced we were going to play. He assumed the position and I, with knowledge mostly from movies, launched the ball as hard as I could towards him. The ball was a little bit lower than planned, missing the bat, and hitting him squarely on the knee. My boyfriend screaming in agony and dropped to the floor almost crying. I, being 14, decided it was best to pretend I wasn’t with him and simply ignored his overly dramatic behaviour. So, it turns out I had in fact picked up a cricket ball, and not a baseball, and my boyfriend was limping for quite some time! Though no permanent damage seemed to be done. Shame (he later cheated on me)! So that is my one and only cricketing experience.
